Sam is profoundly deaf and profoundly brilliant, wearing bilateral cochlear implants. He is a confident young man, extremely proud of his deafness, and passionately shares his experiences with anyone.
Sam's vibrant personality, sense of humor, and zest for life make him a joy to be around. His inquisitiveness shines through his love for astronomy, where he possesses extensive knowledge and enjoys sharing it with others. His favorite hobby is observing planets and the moon through his telescope, and he's currently exploring 4mm lenses.
In addition to astronomy, Sam enjoys playing board games, crafting historical NASA spacecraft models, bike riding, watching Star Trek, and playing basketball. He also has a keen interest in drama, attending LAMDA training, and filmmaking, where he loves creating storyboards for his ideas.
Sam fundraises for Auditory Verbal UK, the speech therapy charity that helped him speak beautifully. Since graduating, he has participated in their annual fundraiser, Loud Shirt Day, and has appeared on Sky News, BBC News, and local media to promote the charity.
He has given school presentations on deafness and explained how his cochlear implants work. Sam's current goal is to travel beyond Earth's atmosphere and eventually set foot on the Moon. If given the opportunity to temporarily live on Mars, he would eagerly take it.
